{"id":2,"date":"2015-02-21T11:48:40","date_gmt":"2015-02-21T11:48:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abtax.org\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2020-05-15T01:17:14","modified_gmt":"2020-05-14T17:17:14","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/abtax.org\/?page_id=2","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Campaign for Asset Based Taxation is a not-for-profit organisation arguing for a fundamental change to the way we operate and think about tax.\u00a0 It is non party-political and welcomes constructive participation in developing its ideas, strategy and outreach.<\/p>\n<p>The key aim is to persuade legislators to unite behind the idea of using taxation to protect global wealth and well-being.\u00a0 The justification for any proposed tax must be grounded on this principle.<\/p>\n<p>We believe that the taxes that meet these criteria are eco-taxes and taxes on the ownership of assets.<\/p>\n<p>The nature of ownership is such that it limits the enjoyment of an asset according to the conditions set by its lawful owner.\u00a0 By exercising the rights of ownership an individual necessarily imposes restrictions on its enjoyment and thus depletes the commons.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals will have their own opinions on whether or to what extent ownership presents a problem to society in general.\u00a0 This organisation simply argues that taxing the ownership of assets conforms with the principles of protecting global wealth and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>There is no place for taxes on income or profit in our core philosophy.\u00a0 We believe financing so large a share of public revenue from these sources requires we maintain a velocity of activity that is essentially destructive and ultimately wealth-depleting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abtax.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/Asset-Based-Taxation-20150629.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Seven Roads to Asset Based Taxation<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Campaign for Asset Based Taxation is a not-for-profit organisation arguing for a fundamental change to the way we operate and think about tax.\u00a0 It is non party-political and welcomes constructive participation in developing its ideas, strategy and outreach.
